From Florence to Tokyo: Palazzo Strozzi Flies to Japan
The exhibition ‘Money and Beauty: Botticelli, bankers and the Bonfire of the Vanities’ held at Palazzo Strozzi in late 2011 is being transferred to the Bunkamura Museum in Tokyo, where it will remain until 28 June.
The 80 works featured mainly include masterpieces by Botticelli, some of which are being  exhibited in Japan for the first time, as well as paintings, sculptures and engravings of other famous artists of the Renaissance. The exhibition uses these works to recount the flourishing of the modern banking system and the roots of economy in parallel with the greatest artistic period of the Western world. The important partnership between the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Bunkamura Museum confirms the excellent international reputation of the Florentine institution and its exhibitions.
