In occasione dei festeggiamenti per i 70 anni di Vespa la Fondazione Piaggio dedica una grande mostra a uno degli aspetti più affascinanti ed evocativi della storia dello “scooter più venduto nel mondo”, che dalla sua nascita ai giorni nostri coinvolge un numero sempre crescente di appassionati: il viaggio.
Nata all’indomani della II Guerra Mondiale come mezzo di trasporto individuale in grado di rimettere in moto un intero Paese, Vespa ha alimentato nei decenni il suo mito quale simbolo di libertà e di movimento. Compagna inseparabile delle prime gite fuoriporta nella società in rapido mutamento degli anni ‘50 così come dei riti di passaggio di più di una generazione di giovani (segno al tempo stesso di distinzione e di emancipazione), Vespa è da sempre l’intrepida protagonista delle avventure di un grande numero di viaggiatori, alcuni dei quali hanno affrontato sulle sue due ruote delle vere e proprie imprese che hanno colpito l’immaginario di molti.

On the occasion of the celebration of 70 years of Vespa, the Piaggio Foundation is dedicating a great exhibition to one of the most fascinating and evocative aspects in the history of the “best selling scooter in the world” that, since its creation, has been involving an increasing number of enthusiasts: the journey.
Vespa emerged in the aftermath of the Second World War as an individual means of transport able to get an entire country going again and, over the decades, its legend as a symbol of freedom and movement has continued to grow. An inseparable companion for out-of-town trips in the rapidly changing society of the 1950s, as well as the rites of passage of more than one generation of young people (a sign of distinction and, at the same time, of emancipation), Vespa has always been the intrepid protagonist of adventures for a large number of travellers. Some of these tackled real challenges that struck a chord in many people’s imaginations.
Vespa is, in fact, the ideal means of transport for travelling around the world in total freedom, thanks to the fact that it is extremely easy to handle, reliable and simple to personalize.
