Ad accompagnarla, Agnese Renzi. A Palazzo Italia colloquio sui temi di WE-Women for Expo
Giornata eccezionale, giovedì 18 giugno, in Expo Milano 2015. In mattinata Michelle Obama ha infatti visitato l’Esposizione Universale , dove è stata accolta da Agnese Renzi, che l’ha accompagnata durante la visita a Palazzo Italia. La First Lady americana si è trattenuta al terzo piano nello spazio del Vivaio Scuole, dedicato all’educazione alimentare in età formativa, tema su cui anche Michelle Obama è impegnata negli Stati Uniti con il progetto “Let’s Move”.
Raggiunto il terrazzo di Palazzo Italia, Michelle Obama ha incontrato Diana Bracco, Presidente di Expo 2015 e Commissario Generale di Sezione di Padiglione Italia, Maurizio Martina, Ministro delle Politiche Agricole, Forestali e Alimentari, e Giuseppe Sala, Commissario Unico delegato del Governo per Expo Milano 2015.
Qui si è inoltre intrattenuta con Emma Bonino e Marta Dassù, rispettivamente Presidente onorario e Presidente esecutivo di WE-Women for Expo. Emma Bonino ha sottolineato che alcuni dei programmi promossi dal network internazionale da lei presieduto insieme a Marta Dassù vanno esattamente nella stessa direzione delle ultime iniziative della First Lady, in particolare, il programma “Let Girls Learn”, che punta a favorire l’accesso all’educazione delle bambine. Nelle due settimane di eventi organizzati a Milano da WE-Women for Expo Women’s Weeks (29 giugno-10 luglio) uno dei temi portanti sarà infatti “Starting from girls”.
Anche Let’s Move, il programma basato sul rapporto fra alimentazione sana, movimento e salute, trova riscontro nei progetti WE-Women for Expo. Emma Bonino ha concordato con la First Lady americana di valutare possibili sinergie future. L’incontro si è svolto in un clima di grande cordialità e di intesa sul ruolo essenziale delle nuove generazioni femminili come leva positiva di cambiamento. Le donne – in quanto protagoniste nel settore della nutrizione e della produzione alimentare – possono essere determinanti per combattere fame e malnutrizione. Obiettivo, quest’ultimo, del progetto WE-Women for Expo che Emma Bonino ha sostenuto dai suoi primi passi.
La permanenza di Michelle Obama al sito espositivo è poi proseguita con la visita al Padiglione degli Stati Uniti.

Thursday, 18 June was an exceptional day at Expo Milano 2015. During the course of the morning in fact, Michelle Obama visited the Universal Exposition, welcomed by Agnese Renzi, who accompanied her during her visit to Palazzo Italia. The US First Lady spent time on the third floor in the area dedicated to the Vivaio Scuole (School Nursery) and nutritional education for children, a topic which has also seen Michelle Obama engaged in the USA with the project “Let’s Move”.
On the terrace of Palazzo Italia, Michelle Obama met Diana Bracco, President of Expo 2015 and General Section Commissioner of the Italian Pavilion, Maurizio Martina, Minister of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Policies, and Giuseppe Sala, Sole Commissioner appointed by the Government for Expo Milano 2015.
Here, she also met Emma Bonino and Marta Dassù, honorary President and executive President respectively of WE-Women for Expo. Emma Bonino stressed that some of the programmes promoted by the international network of which she is president, together with Marta Dassù, are moving in exactly the same direction as the latest initiatives of the First Lady, in particular the “Let Girls Learn” programme, which aims at facilitating education for girls. During the two weeks of events organized in Milan by WE-Women for Expo Women’s Weeks (29 June-10 July) one of the most important topics is in fact “Starting from girls”. Let’s Move, the programme based on relations between healthy eating, exercise and health is also at the centre of the WE-Women for Expo projects. Emma Bonino agreed with the US First Lady to assess possible future synergies. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of great cordiality and understanding of the essential role of new female generations as a positive lever of change. Women – as protagonists in the nutrition and food production sector – can play a decisive role in combating hunger and malnutrition. This is an objective of the WE-Women for Expo project which Emma Bonino has supported from the very beginning. Michelle Obama’s visit to the exposition site subsequently took her to the USA Pavilion.
