Ora tocca a noi”.

Argentina: Macri, an Italian, is the new President
Italy greets Argentina, with the Minister of Agriculture, Maurizio Martina, present at the inaugural ceremonies for the new Argentinian president, Mauricio Macri. After taking an oath before the joint session of the chambers in the ‘Congreso Nacional’ Building, Macri delivered a message to the country, in which he invited Argentina to work united in order to eradicate poverty, fight drug trafficking and relaunch the country. “We want to maintain relationships of cooperation with every country in the world”, the new President said, also greeting the other presidential candidates present in the parliamentary Chamber. Macrì even found room in his speech to mention his origins: son of Franco, who was born in Reggio Calabria and moved to Buenos Aires in the 1950s – in this way, the new president paid homage to the work of the “immigrants who crossed the Ocean without Facebook or Twitter”, “arriving here, where they settled, creating a marvellous milestone in Argentina’s history. It is now our turn”.
