The TTIP is back in the headlines
The super trade agreement negotiations between the United States and the European Union have come to a standstill. This is also due to the fact that new elections will soon be held in the United States, France, and Germany, and therefore none of these governments currently has a strong enough leadership to conclude such an important agreement.
According to our Minister of Economic Development, reaching a trade agreement with high standards with the United States is fundamental for Italian exports.
In a recent interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper, he explained that “in certain countries the rejection of globalization has resulted in the rejection of the TTIP itself. Even if the agreement between the European Union and the United States is an antidote to globalization as we have come to know it, as it creates the largest free trade area in the world with high standards, which automatically become global.
It’s the way in which the West can once again take control of globalization”. One thing is certain: the new governments that will be elected in the United States and Europe will find themselves facing a difficult question, and will have to make an enormous effort to change their respective public opinions.
