Nei primi due mesi di Expo, accolti ben 33 tra Capi di Stato e di Governo

Tra maggio e giugno, sono stati ben 33 i Capi di Stato e di Governo che hanno visitato Expo Milano 2015. L’ultimo in ordine di tempo, sabato 27 giugno, è stato il Presidente del Kazakistan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, che ha celebrato il National Day dedicato al proprio Paese sottolineando che sarà la capitale Astana ad ospitare, nel 2017, la prossima Esposizione Universale, dedicata all’energia. Ma, prima di lui, abbiamo potuto contare su presenze di spicco sia a livello europeo – dal Presidente russo Vladimir Putin al Primo Ministro britannico David Cameron, dal Presidente francese François Hollande al Primo Ministro spagnolo Mariano Rajoy, dal Presidente austriaco Heinz Fischer a Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz Regina del Belgio – sia a livello mondiale – come il Primo Ministro tunisino Habib Essid, la Presidente cilena Michelle Bachelet, e tanti altri. Senza comunque dimenticare i numerosi ministri, rappresentanti di governo e personaggi di spicco – dalla First Lady americana Michelle Obama all’ex Presidente brasiliano Luiz Inàcio da Silva – che abbiamo avuto l’onore di accogliere. E senza tralasciare, naturalmente, il nostro Presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, che ci ha onorato della sua presenza lo scorso 5 giugno.
Nelle prossime settimane, saranno ancora tanti gli esponenti politici mondiali che varcheranno i cancelli della nostra Esposizione Universale: altri nove già entro la fine di luglio, a partire dalla Presidente brasiliana Dilma Rousseff; e, ancora, i numerosi presidenti africani attesi per le giornate nazionali dedicate ai loro Paesi. Al punto che prevediamo di superare la stima di 50 Capi di Stato o di Governo che visiteranno l’Expo entro la fine di ottobre.
La cosa non può che darci grande soddisfazione, perché testimonia il fatto che i massimi vertici della politica mondiale tengono in alta considerazione la nostra Esposizione Universale, e, con la loro partecipazione, confermano che Milano è veramente “the place to be”. Che credono nel tema prescelto, e che giudicano Milano il palcoscenico più adatto per confermare il loro impegno in materia di alimentazione, rispetto dell’ambiente, sviluppo sociale.
Era uno degli obiettivi che ci eravamo preposti, e non possiamo che augurarci che queste collaborazioni di alto profilo vadano ben oltre i sei mesi di Expo Milano 2015.
Global Politics Looks Toward Milan
During the first two months of the Expo, some 33 Heads of State and Government have been welcomed
Between May and June, 33 Heads of State and Government visited the Milan Expo 2015. The last chronologically (on 27 June) was the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, who celebrated the National Day dedicated to their country, highlighting the fact that its Capital of Astana will be hosting the next World Expo in 2017 dedicated to energy. Prior to him, the Expo was also attended by other prominent European leaders – from the Russian President Vladimir Putin to the British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President François Hollande, the Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, the Austrian President Heinz Fischer, and the Queen of Belgium Mathilde d’Udekem d’Acoz, as well as other global figures such as the Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid, the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, and many others. And let’s not forget the numerous Ministers, government representatives, and prominent personalities – from First Lady Michelle Obama to former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio da Silva – whom we had the honour of welcoming. Then, of course, there is our own President, Sergio Mattarella, who honoured us with his presence on 05 June.
During the coming weeks, however, there are still many political leaders worldwide who will pass through the gates of our World Expo: nine more by the end of July, including the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, and the many African Presidents expected on the occasion of the national days devoted to their countries. We are even expecting to exceed the estimate of 50 Heads of State or Government who will be visiting the Expo by late October. This gives us great satisfaction because it testifies to the fact that the highest positions in world politics hold our World Expo in high esteem, and with their participation there is further proof that Milan “is the place to be”. These individuals believe in the chosen themes and feel that Milan is the most suitable stage for confirming their commitment with regard to nutrition, the environment, and social development.
This was one of the objectives we had set for ourselves, and we can only hope that these high-profile collaborations will last well beyond the six months of the Milan 2015 Expo.
