(aise)

The Amerigo Vespucci: a combination of Italian culture and Naval traditions
Renowned throughout the world, the Italian Navy’s longest serving ship boasts an extensive and glorious history, and remains unsurpassed to this day in terms of its elegance and majesty. During the year of its 85th anniversary, the Vespucci has once again set sail, and is now preparing to face the final stages of its journey across Europe. During the initial phase, the campaign marking the ship’s 85th year made landfall at some of Italy’s main ports in order to greet the people, and allow them to tour the Amerigo Vespucci, to enjoy itinerant exhibits, and to participate in the cultural and charity events held on board.
During the second phase, after having welcomed the students of the Naval Academy on board, the Vespucci embarked on a training campaign throughout the Mediterranean and Northern Europe: in July, the ship made landfall at Port Mahon in Spain, followed by Lisbon, and then returned to the Spanish port of Cadiz; it stopped in Dublin and Oslo in August, and is currently moored in Denmark. In September, the Vespucci was in Antwerp (Belgium), in Brest (France), and in Valencia (Spain), after which it will return to Leghorn on 1st October. (aise)
