Towards Rome Treaty’s 60th Anniversary
The day of 25 March 2017 marks 60 years from the signing of the Rome Treaties, considered to be one of the most significant moments in the history of the European integration process. It is an anniversary that, as the Undersecretary for European Policies and Affairs, Sandro Gozi explains, should represent an opportunity to relaunch the European political process and not just a celebratory event.
“The timeframe is 2017”, explains Gozi, “when we find ourselves back in Rome for the anniversary of the 1957 Treaties. We need to use this time to promote a new commitment to a better Union, involving all countries that share the need to safeguard and relaunch the European project. It is a message that we must direct above all to young people in order to give them hope for the future”.
The official logo. The number 60 that blends into the form of an open oval that recalls the gesture of a hug, the community, and the forming of a circle that refers to the classroom of the European Parliament, symbol of the representation of the citizens of the Union.
This is the logo dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of the Rome Treaties, selected by the Department for European Policies and the university’s Ministry of Instruction and Research from a competition that saw the participation of schools from every class and grade. There were 100 designs presented.
The logo chosen belongs to Norma Galdieri, third year student (graphics section) of the Artistic High School G. Giovagnoli of San Sepolcro (AR), awarded 31 May 2016 in Campidoglio.
