Erano anni che gli italiani nel mondo non facevano un bilancio positivo dell’anno che si conclude: il 2015 che ci lasciamo alle spalle sarà ricordato come l’anno in cui è tornato il segno più davanti a tanti capitoli relativi ai programmi per l’Altra Italia che vive all’estero.
I ripetuti tagli ai programmi di promozione della lingua e cultura non ci sono più, il sistema ricchissimo e prezioso delle Camere di Commercio italiane all’estero continua ad essere finanziato e sostenuto, i consolati riceveranno nuove risorse e investimenti in grado di renderli più efficienti e adeguati alla grande domanda di servizi che ricevono quotidianamente. Sono solo alcune delle principali misure contenute nell’ultima legge di stabilità, quella che sovrintenderà alle spese dello Stato italiano per il 2016, e che riguardano direttamente la vita degli italiani nel mondo e la proiezione internazionale del Paese proprio in ragione della presenza delle nostre grandi collettività.
Segnali positivi forse ancora lontani dalle nostre aspettative e dalla prospettiva concreta di una rapida soluzione di tanti piccoli e grandi problemi rivendicati da tempo dai milioni di italiani che vivono fuori dai confini del nostro Paese.
Sicuramente però si tratta di una inversione di tendenza, di un chiaro segnale di attenzione manifestato dal governo italiano e dal suo Presidente del Consiglio, Matteo Renzi. Del resto avevamo già ascoltato il Presidente Renzi rivolgere nel corso dei suoi viaggi all’estero, in Australia come in Perù, parole di gratitudine e riconoscimento verso il grande ruolo che hanno avuto e continuano ad avere le comunità italiane nel mondo. Dopo le parole ci aspettavamo i fatti, e questi ultimi sono arrivati e noi ne prendiamo atto. L’Italia riparte! è questo l’imperativo del governo italiano e siamo contenti, come italiani e non come rappresentanti di questo o quel partito, che gli indici macroeconomici confermino, sia pure timidamente, questo ambizioso obiettivo dei nostri governanti. E non è irrilevante, tantomeno un caso, il fatto che in questa ripartenza il peso dell’export e del made in Italy abbia un ruolo forte e decisivo; un peso che in gran parte deriva proprio dalla estesissima penetrazione della presenza italiana nel mondo, vero e proprio ‘asset’ unico ed esclusivo che pone l’Italia un una posizione privilegiata rispetto a quasi tutti i nostri concorrenti, vecchi e nuovi.
Grazie allora all’Italia che riparte e grazie – soprattutto! – ai protagonisti di questa nuova tappa della lunga storia del Paese, destinata a rafforzare non solo la nostra economia, ma anche l’insostituibile ruolo dell’Italia sul piano europeo e internazionale.
Italy Makes a Fresh Start… and with it, the Italians Throughout the World!
It has been years since the Italians around the world had a positive result at the end of the year: 2015, now behind us, will be remembered as the year in which the plus sign returned in front of many chapters regarding plans for the Other Italy that lives abroad.
The repeated cuts made to programmes promoting language and culture are gone. The rich and precious system of the Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad continues to be financed and supported. The consulates will receive new resources and investments to make them more efficient and in line with the great demand for services that they receive every day. These are just a few of the main measures contained in the latest stability law, the one that will oversee the spending of the Italian State in 2016 and that directly concerns the lives of Italians around the world and the international image of the country, specifically in the context of the presence of a large Italian community abroad.
These positive signs are perhaps still a long way from our expectations and from the tangible prospect of a rapid solution to many small and large problems that the millions of Italians living beyond Italy’s borders have been talking about for some time. However, a turnaround is undoubtedly taking place and is a clear indication of the attention being focused by the Italian government and its Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi. After all, we had already heard Prime Minister Renzi, during his travels abroad, in Australia and in Peru, pronounce words of gratitude and recognition with regard to the important role that the Italian communities around the world have had and continue to have.
After the words, we were waiting for the facts. They have now arrived and we acknowledge them. Italy is making a fresh start! This is the Italian government’s imperative and we are happy, as Italians and not as representatives of this or that party, that the macroeconomic indicators confirm, albeit timidly, this ambitious goal of our leaders.
Moreover, the fact that, in this new fresh start, the importance of exports and of the Made in Italy brand has a strong and decisive role is not irrelevant, nor is it a coincidence; a large part of this importance comes from the widespread Italian presence in the world, a truly unique and exclusive ‘asset’ that puts Italian in a privileged position with respect to almost all of our old and new competitors.
So thanks to Italy, as it makes a fresh start again and thanks – especially! – to the protagonists of this new stage in the country’s long history, destined to strengthen not only the economy, but also Italy’s irreplaceable role in Europe and internationally.
